News news news

I'm playing on Wednesday (20th) at a last minute show with a chap called Frankmusik. It's a free gig at The Black Gardenia, 93 Dean Street, London, W1D 3SZ. Please come if you can, it should be a really fun night. I'm on about 8pm. You can check Frankmusik out here: www.myspace.com/frankmusik

Also a mention for last Friday night in Watford. I had immense funs. I must admit it's the first time I've played with someone holding a mic in front of my face for three minutes whilst I sing cos there's no mic stand but I'm hoping it's not the last time. Most important thing is that there was lots of money raised for my friend and we got fed and watered very very very well. Awesome night.

On the subject of gigs, here's a quick plug for my show at the Old Queens Head in October...

I've been getting some good replies from magazines, radio and websites about my EP. I'm hoping that the when you all hear it you're gonna like it cos I have put everything I have into this record and I think, for the first time in my life, it is actually a record and not just a collection of songs. I'm almost proud of myself...almost.

I was featured on Milk Milk Lemonade's blog, these people have been mega nice to me over the past year. Thanks to Casey for that.

Hope you're all well.

6 Music, free song, Watford & EP of wonder

Firstly, 'One Day All This Will Work Out...' is nearly finished! Should be tomorrow when we master it. I listened to it last night in it's entirety and I'm confident that it's the best piece of work I've done. There will be more info on where it'll be available etc in the next few weeks but for those who're interested the track listing will be:

1. Nottingham Wasn't Built For Me
2. Division Street Blues
3. Five Year Plan
4. Okay At Best
5. Old Street Social Scene
6. M1 To The A52

Secondly, one song that didn't make it on there is 'The Holloway To Beeston Express'. Sad face. But that has been uploaded to the MySpace player (in the 'links' bit) and you can download it for free. Downloading is encouraged.

Thirdly, Tom Robinson played 'Okay At Best' this week which made me really happy. "That song was 'Okay At Best', that's the song title not my valued judgement". Thanks Tom.
Finally, after the mastering tomorrow I plot course to do a gig in Watford at a golf course. If you fancy coming to Watford, let me know.

I guess finally finally, thank you to all of you who have dropped by with a kind email or helped me in someway recently. It's all a bit full on this releasing your own stuff malarkey but I'm confident I'm gonna win. I have to win.

Signals over the air

The title is for two reasons:

1. It's a reference to the band Thursday for my mate Dave who at Y Not festival in Matlock last weekend kept saying "I like this, it sounds like Thursday" even when we're stood in some kind of all night rave. Hmmm...

2. I'm very pleased to say I've been getting a little bit of airplay for the new record. Tom Robinson emailed me to say he's gonna play 'Okay At Best' on his introducing show on 6 Music next week, keep an ear out for that. Jon Hillcock Facebooked me (is that even a term, really!?) to tell me he played 'Nottingham Wasn't Built For Me' on Saturday night whilst I was watching Frank Turner, drunk and muddy at Y Not. Proof here/look at me mum:

I've been talking to some people about some cool coverage in some magazines. Real non-internet-stuff. For free. Free magazines. Free! Okay, I've exhausted that point. More on that when they're on their way into the shops.

I'm booking lots of shows too, although the main slog of that hasn't started yet. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to most things. Even all this shit about barcodes an that, it's all exciting. One bit of bad news though, no Chris T-T at my release party. Bum. I wanted him to play so much but he has other stuff to do. Shame cos he's a legend.

Coming soon...erm...everything!
